In the physical world, a doctor checks a person’s “vitals” by measuring blood pressure, heart beat, pulse, temperature and respiration. He is looking to see if something is amiss or hoping for some indication of improvement in health.
Whatever is “vital” in life is extremely important for survival or continued effectiveness.
Measuring spiritual “vitals” isn’t as easy. What’s the temperature of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Is His Kingdom our primary concern? Does our heart beat in desperation for Him? Are we breathing Him in? Do we seek Him daily or try to make it on our own. Does our life flow out of the Spirit within? This section of study will focus on the importance of making Jesus Christ our top priority in life. We’re going to check our “vitals” together…I especially like the NIV version for this particular lesson.
