I’m Karen Cooper and my passion is family. It took me some time to become a mom. Years of infertility, miscarriages, and two bouts of breast cancer made me realize Christians are not immune from trouble. Motherhood was my highest calling but it seemed everything was against me. The Bible and prayer became my lifeline as I faced these obstacles. I write to help other women draw wisdom from God’s Word and life experiences no matter what they’re going through.

One of my favorite scriptures is in Proverbs. “Hope deferred makes the heart sick but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” This verse gave me strength as I endured empty arms. Miracles happen and God does answer prayer, as I eventually became the mother of two incredible sons. They were born nearly ten years apart, but I experienced the other side of the equation at last. The longing was fulfilled… my tree of life.

It didn’t take long to realize how much I needed the Lord’s help as a mom. I longed to train up my children in the way they should and God’s Word and prayer once again became my lifeline.

My life verse is found in 3 John 4. “I have no greater joy that to hear that my children walk in truth.” Now that I’m a grandmother of five, I’ve found that helping to lead these young ones to Jesus is my greatest goal in life. There’s nothing more important than knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Not all A’s on a report card. Not the top scorer in basketball. And not the most popular kid in the class. Nothing brings more joy than to witness your children follow after God’s ways.

Our family is blessed because of the legacy we’ve been handed. We are fourth generations of believers, so we must steward this well for the generations to come. I want to help you do the same.  So I write stories from my heart and from actual life experiences. I write from the truths of God’s Word and endeavor to help us apply them to our daily lives.

Won’t you join me for my monthly posts, as we learn more about the Kingdom of God and how we can influence our children to walk in truth. I am a KingdomMom! I want you to be the same! To make sure you don’t miss the latest blog post, please subscribe via RSS or email.

Biography

After teaching in the public schools for five years, I became a stay-at-home mom. During this time, I hosted Bible studies in my home and was active in our local church. As my children grew, I was asked to mentor young moms on their motherhood journey. I eventually began writing my own Bible studies and have been leading original studies for over ten years. I am a believer in Moms-in-Touch, an international prayer group that encourages mothers to pray together for their children one hour per week. The times I spent praying with other mothers impacted my children and grandchildren to this day.

I have been married to my husband, David, for over 50 years. He is the most giving, self-less man I have ever known. A natural entrepreneur, my husband started many businesses through the years. Currently he is president of Community Reinvestment Foundation, a mission-minded, affordable housing business he developed in 1992. I continue to work two days at week helping with accounting and other administrative duties.

Both of our sons have served in my husband’s business throughout the years. Our older son, Erik, is Vice President of CRF after pastoring for twelve years. He has established the giving arm of our not-for-profit called, The Stone Table. Our younger son is a musician, writer and producer of music. He is currently Music Pastor at Mercy Road Downtown in Indianapolis.  It’s been an exciting adventure to watch the Lord lead our children on paths no one knew were there.

Both of the girls our sons married come from a long line of believers before them.  Their influence on our sons have enhanced their calling.  There’s a powerful strength within families who are rooted back three, four, or even five generations to Jesus Christ.  The seeds from pursuing Christ through the years leave a harvest of blessings on the next generation.  That’s something worth investing in and becoming intentional about.

Now a grandmother to five beautiful children, I find that helping to lead these young ones to Jesus is my greatest goal in life.  We are a blessed family because of the legacy we’ve been handed, because of the prayers of those who’ve gone before us. We must steward this well for the generations to come.  I want to help you do the same.  So I write stories from my heart and from actual life experiences.  I write from the truths of God’s Word and endeavor to help us apply them to our daily lives.  Won’t you join me as we learn more about the Kingdom of God and how we can influence our children to be Kingdom builders.  You, too, can experience the great joy of knowing your children walk in truth. Believe me, there’s nothing better!
