GO TO THE SOURCE…THE TRIUNE GOD
Try explaining the Trinity to a child. “Well, it’s like an apple that is skin, flesh and seeds all in one. Make sense?”
Perhaps a bit too simplistic, but explaining that our God is three parts all in one isn’t easy. Even to an adult.
Let’s take some time to look at the role each member of the Trinity plays in our lives. What a powerful Resource we have as believers. That’s why we are instructed to trust in the Lord and not to lean on our own understanding. We often try to be wise in our own eyes, but true wisdom comes from above. The Lord wants us to lean into Him in every circumstances we face. That’s why inquiring of the Lord is so important to our well-being.
As you read the verses below, meditate on how the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are available to meet your every need.
Read Romans 11:33-36 (often called the Doxology)
1. How do these verses express that God is smarter than we are?
Read I Corinthians 1:24
2. How is Christ described in this verse?
Read I Corinthians 2:9-12
3. What is the role of the Holy Spirit?
Read I Corinthians 2:13
4. How should we speak according to this verse?
Read I Corinthians 2:14-16
5. Why is it difficult for unbelievers to understand God’s ways? What is available to us from the Spirit of God?
Deep wisdom, knowledge, power, revelation, spiritual truths, and the mind of Christ…all available to us if we inquire. Why depend on self or others when everything we need for life and godliness is found in HIM! Let’s end this study with a recap of a verse from last week’s lesson taken from the Message Bible. “ALL THE RICHEST TREASURES OF WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE ARE EMBEDDED IN THAT GREAT MYSTERY, JESUS CHRIST, AND NO WHERE ELSE.” (Colossians 2:3). So remember your Source…and keep inquiring.
From Orlando, Fl.
Well – certainly GOD is much smarter than we are or could be at all – HE made each one of us and the whole world at the very beginning – sometimes I look at things in this world – beautiful clouds – beautiful flowers and so many other things HE has given each one of us to enjoy in our lives – I wonder sometimes “How did HE know how to build things or create new things” – looking at a small animal walking around in the yard and enjoying things – How did HE do it – I can never be thankful enough for GOD creating all of the lovely things for me to enjoy on my walk each morning and just dwell on HIS presence. GOD is described as CHRIST the power of GOD and the wisdom of GOD. GOD’s Holy Spirit was given to each one of us so that we could know it and GOD – this was to help each one of us know the things that are given to us of GOD – GOD reveals things to us by HIS Spirit – just more closeness to HIM in our daily lives – OH – how wonderful to really know him each day of our lives. We should never speak things in our own wisdom – but through HIM in our lives. It is difficult for unbelievers because they have not come to know the REAL GOD or HIS SPIRIT in their lives – you and I as soldiers of GOD have the SPIRIT dwelling in each one of us and we are supposed to instruct others about serving GOD with their whole hearts and listening to the leading of the HOLY SPIRIT. We as Children of GOD are instilled with all of these things and GOD expects each one of us to tell others about HIM and also by living our lives so as to use all of our wisdom – power – knowledge – HIS power and truths. You and I are the Bibles other people read sometimes and we must show how much we love GOD and love to serve HIM. Another wonderful lesson – These really get us to thinking about our lives we live each day – Thanks Karen.
I am always blown away when I read 1 Corinthians 2:11-12. When I think about the fact that only the spirit within us, really and truly knows us. Yet, God, in His mercy and grace allows us access to His Spirit so we can really and truly know Him. Absolutely amazing.
Then I feel remorse that I haven’t fully utilized this full access that He has allowed me. What on this earth could possibly be more important? Nothing!
Thank you, Karen, for yet again bringing me to my knees before Him.
