Intimacy with the King – Lesson 6

Enter In

The Bible declares that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. There is no other way to the Father except through Jesus Christ our Lord. Because of His sacrifice, we have the privilege to enter into the very presence of God, pursuing intimacy with the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Read Hebrews 10:19-20

1. Where do we have confidence to enter? By what means? What is opened up to us? What does the curtain or veil represent?

Read Hebrews 6:19-20

2. What is behind the curtain and what does it provide for us? To what are you anchored today?

Read Hebrews 4:16

3. What do we receive when we approach the throne of God with confidence?

Read Hebrews 10:22 Isaiah 29:13

4. Contrast how we should and should not draw near to God.

Moses spent more time in the presence of God than most people of his day, but the people of Israel desired His blessings more than His presence. They served God if it was beneficial to their well-being but resisted getting too close to God Himself. While they praised Him for miracles, they also complained in the face of opposition. Over and over again they would say, “Wouldn’t it have been better for us if…”

Israel was not concerned about the higher purposes and plans of God even though He was continually working for their good. They didn’t trust in the God whom Moses knew so intimately. We might criticize their lack of faith, but these things were written as a warning for us as well. May we be a people who draw near to God, approaching His throne with confidence. The Most Holy Place has been opened to us so we can find His grace that is sufficient for every need. It’s our choice how close we want to get to God.  But remember, He will be the anchor for our soul when we draw near to Him.
