What is Vital – Lesson 5

The Power of Life-Giving Words

I am just returning home from my sister’s funeral, wondering what life will look like without her. After an emotional few days, I find my strength in God’s life-giving Word…which is more vital than ever to me right now.

We read in the Amplified Bible: The Lord looked down from heaven to see if there were any who inquired of Him and required Him as VITAL.

You can be sure I am “inquiring” and “requiring” these days…He IS vital to me! But what do I do with these truths? I believe the first step is to meditate on them. I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good! His Word floods my thinking and has become a living reality. I can open my mouth to speak these truths. That’s the foundation on which I stand today.

What comes out of our mouth will become an instrument to defeat the lies the enemy of our souls throws at us. Speaking God’s Word is vital in becoming a spiritual overcomer. Let’s look at some verses that give more enlightenment to this truth.

Read Proverbs 18:21

1. What power is found in the tongue?

Read Matthew 12:34-37

2. How does our heart affect our mouth? What will our words eventually do to us?

Read Ephesians 6:17

3.What piece of spiritual armor is depicted here and what does it represent?

Read Hebrews 4:12

4. How is God’s Word described? What effect does it have on our lives?

Read Revelation 1:16 and 2:16

5. Where is the Sword coming from here? What insight do you gain from this truth?

Do you understand the power of speaking scripture now? Knowing God’s Word is essential because our prayers are speaking back to God what He has already spoken to us. There’s life-giving power in that, my friends. That’s what’s vital!
